Why Do the Course Program?
There are several reasons why a student might be interested in doing the IB Course Program instead of the Full IB Diploma Program.
First, the Full IB Diploma Program is a lot of work, and it is constant. So, if a student has been struggling to keep up with the workload in 10th Grade, it may not be the most sensible choice, and the Course Program would be more manageable.
Second, where a student in going to university makes a difference. US colleges don’t require the Full IB Diploma Program, although they are impressed by it. They look more particularly at other indicators, such as high school grades and SAT scores. So, if a student’s grades are likely to go down as a result of increased work pressures, the answer for US-bound students could be to take the IB Course Program instead of the Full IB Diploma Program.
Third, a student in the course program has greater freedom to focus on areas of special interest, such as music or art. By cutting back on the academic load, time can be created for other pursuits that may be more relevant to the student’s long term goals and aspirations.
